Hey oppo so I attended a career fair yesterday and one of the companies I talked to pasted along my resume to the office back in Florida. Anyway the vice president is up at an office near me tomorrow and is willing to travel over to my school and meet for an interview.
My main question is has anyone ever done an unofficial interview somewhere that wasn't an office for the company. He said to let him know a place and we could meet so I was thinking maybe the coffee shop but I am not sure. Its for a construction company working in the office however.
Thanks.
For your time

You might want to see if your school's Career Services department has interview rooms. This would be ideal.

Coffee shop is a safe bet, I think, as long as it's not typically very busy/crowded/loud. You want to be able to hear each other and converse, but you don't need to pick some secluded location.
Also have a backup plan. I went to Maryland and we had a huge student union with lots of different study rooms and things, so if the coffee shop was too busy, there would be the option to walk somewhere else and sit down. I don't know what your situation is, but hopefully you have similar options.

Yeah, ask someone in your Career Services department or an academic advisor if there are any meeting rooms you can use.

This is a great idea. I believe I remember hearing about something similar at one time. I shall take a look. Thanks for the idea!

I came to say this too, most schools should have some sort of Career Center that can basically arrange this sort of thing for you, as an intermediary. I know mine would set you up with coffee and waters for a really relaxed setting. Just don't show up hungover! #reasonsidontworkforcorning

Coffee shop is fine as long as there's a relatively low key one around. You don't want to be in a high volume Starbucks crammed in a little table in the corner with a bunch of people making noise everywhere. Plus you'll probably get free coffee out of it.
Other options I haven't seen yet: your school's library study rooms, public library conference rooms, if your school has a music department you could probably grab their practice rooms, if you're close with one of your profs you could finagle a lab for half an hour that's not in use or their office.

No I am a construction science major. Nothing that elaborate we are a small town. Heck the university has twice as many students as the town has population.

A coffee shop with an appropriate volume level to hold a conversation is great if there are no other alternatives. I've also had interview an over breakfast go well before.

Actually I didn't recognize it right away, but a few of my good friends are Clemson natives (I think their parents are professors) and I remember them saying "university has twice as many students as the town population." On a whim I googled Clemson and found the logo.

haha yeah its really funny the town tends to revolve around the university almost. Some if the professors can't even stand that though. Last semester i had a professor that drove 2 hours from Atlanta every day for his classes. He couldn't give the class a single good reason why he would do that.

The small town life definitely isn't for everybody.
